The Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church on 9th December 2001 commemorated the 125th anniversary of the Metropolitan ordination of Saint Gregorios at a function held at the North Paravur St. Thomas Church. It was exactly a century and quarter before, on 10th December 1876, that His Grace was ordained a Metropolitan by Moran Mor Ignatius Peter IV (III), the Patriarch of Antioch & All the East, at the same Church. Ambattu Mor Koorilos Geevarghese was the other bishop who was ordained together with St. Gregorios.
Earlier on the day the Catholicos designate Mor Dionysius Thomas, in co-operation of the Chief Metropolitan of the East Mor Clemis Abraham and all other bishops of the Malankara Syrian Church celebrated the Holy Qurbono. The Episcopal Synod convened soon after, recalled the achievements of the Mulunthuruthy Synod and also the involvement of Saint Gregorios in that historical synod. Later a public function was also organized at the North Paravur St. Thomas Church to commemorate the 125th year of Metropolitan ordination of Mor Gregorios.
