MOR PHILOXINUS MATTIAS NAYIS was ordained Metropolitan by His Holiness the Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, the Supreme head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, on Sunday, January 7th, 2007, in a ceremony held at the Sts. Peter and Paul's Cathedral, Ma’arrat Saidnaya, Syria. On ordination Mor Philoxinus was appointed as the 2nd patriarchal assistant and administrator of the St. Ephraim Theological College in Ma’arrat Saidnaya. From January 2008 onwards His Eminence took full charge as Patriarchal Assistant. Later in 2011, H.E. was appointed the Patriarchal Vicar of the Archdiocese of Germany and he continues in that position.
